The saying goes, “Teamwork makes the dream work.”  As a man of faith, I believe we were all created for a great purpose; however, the objective cannot be achieved without the help of others.  Therefore, we all need each other.

Even if you don’t feel this way now, everyone needs someone at some point.  In Genesis 2:18, the Bible says, “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”

God Himself knew we would need others.  Working with others builds camaraderie, fellowship, brotherhood and an impactful army.  Furthermore, it enables us to accomplish significantly more than we could do independently.   So today, we’re going to delve into that a bit more.

Why is Teamwork Important?

As they say in sports, “There is no I in team.”  This reminds us that the things we are trying to achieve are often bigger than ourselves.  In addition, one person cannot do it all.  It takes every member doing their part and playing their role to succeed.  Teamwork brings people together, and to get things done, they must rely on one another

Furthermore, teamwork enables team members to experience less stress, share ideas, and responsibilities.  Forging partnerships can also save time and conserve the energy of everyone in the group.

“Teamwork divides the task and multiplies the success.” – Unknown.

What does the Bible say about Teamwork & Working Together?

The Bible has quite a bit to say on the subject of teamwork and working together. Here is a list of just 27 examples to get you started.

1.  Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.  But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.  Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.  But how can one keep warm alone?  Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

2.  1 Corinthians 12:12

“For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts, though many, form [only] one body, so it is with Christ.”

3.  1 Corinthians 12:14-17

“For the [human] body does not consist of one part, but of many [limbs and organs].  If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” is it not, on the contrary, still a part of the body?  If the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” is it not, on the contrary, still a part of the body?  If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be?  If the whole [body] were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?”

4.  1 Corinthians 12:18-19

“But now [as things really are], God has placed and arranged the parts in the body, each one of them, just as He willed and saw fit [with the best balance of function].  If they all were a single organ, where would [the rest of] the body be?”

But now [as things really are], God has placed and arranged the parts in the body, each one of them, just as He willed and saw fit [with the best balance of function].  If they all were a single organ, where would [the rest of] the body be?” – 1 Corinthians 12:18-19

5.  1 Corinthians 12:20-25

“But now [as things really are] there are many parts [different limbs and organs], but a single body.  The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” But quite the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are [absolutely] necessary; and as for those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, these we treat with greater honor; and our less presentable parts are treated with greater modesty, while our more presentable parts do not require it.  But God has combined the [whole] body, giving greater honor to that part which lacks it, so that there would be no division or discord in the body [that is, lack of adaptation of the parts to each other], but that the parts may have the same concern for one another.”

6.  1 Corinthians 12:26,27

“And if one member suffers, all the parts share the suffering; if one member is honored, all rejoice with it.  Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body, and individually [you are] members of it [each with his own special purpose and function].”

7.  Romans 15:1

“We who are strong ought to bear the failings of the weak….”

8.  1 Peter 4:8-10

“Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins.  Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.  Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

9.  Proverbs 27:17

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

10.  Hebrews 10:24, 25

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another….”

Final Thoughts on 27 Good Bible Verses About Teamwork & Working Together

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller.

We all have different abilities and benefit from what others bring to the table.  From the Bible verses about teamwork, we see that God made us better together.

Our bodies work the same way.  For instance… if we have a hurt knee, the other knee overcompensates for the other.  It instinctually takes on more of the load.  Similarly, if we lose one of our five senses (sight, taste, smell, hearing, and touch), the other senses function more intently to make up for the loss.

Alone, the mission is heavily on us.  But, as a team working together, there is not much that can stop us!
